Frequently asked questions
Know what to expect before your appointment.
Practical answers about treatment choices, first appointments, mobile visits, pressure, needling, cancellation and Nick’s osteopathy training.
Do I need to play sport to book a sports massage?
No. Sports and deep-tissue massage are for anyone experiencing muscular tension, stiffness or discomfort. This may be linked to work, prolonged sitting, carrying children, repetitive activity, exercise or an earlier injury.
What happens at my first appointment?
Nick begins with a consultation about why you are seeking treatment, your relevant health history and your goals. He may carry out movement tests to understand the main area and related regions before agreeing a treatment plan. Allow a little extra time for this first consultation.
Can I book a mobile appointment or visit a clinic?
Both options are available. Nick provides mobile treatments across Brighton, Hove and surrounding areas, and appointments can also be booked at his home clinic in Hangleton, Hove. The full clinic address is provided with the booking confirmation.
Which appointment length should I choose?
A 45-minute appointment is best for one focused area. Sixty minutes suits a first visit or one or more related areas. Ninety minutes allows time for several areas, whole-body treatment or more complex requirements.
Does sports or remedial massage have to be painful?
No. The intention is to reduce discomfort, not create unnecessary pain. Pressure and techniques are discussed with you and can be changed at any time during the treatment.
Does Nick use dry needling or medical acupuncture?
Nick is trained in dry needling and medical acupuncture. These are optional techniques and are only considered when appropriate, after suitability has been discussed and you have given informed consent.
Is osteopathy currently available?
No. Nick is a final-year osteopathy student at the University College of Osteopathy, but the services currently advertised here are sports massage, deep-tissue massage and soft-tissue therapy. Osteopathic consultations are not currently offered.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move an appointment. Late cancellations within 24 hours and missed appointments are charged at the booked treatment rate.
Where does Nick travel?
Nick provides mobile appointments across Brighton, Hove and East Sussex, including surrounding areas such as Worthing, Lewes and Seaford. Contact Nick with your postcode to confirm availability and any travel arrangements.
When might massage need to be postponed?
Massage may need to be adapted or postponed if you are acutely unwell, have a fever or contagious condition, have a new unexplained symptom, or have an injury that first needs medical assessment. Contact Nick before booking if you are unsure.
How available is Nick while studying osteopathy?
Nick continues to provide sports and deep-tissue massage, but availability is limited while he completes his osteopathy training, particularly at weekends. The online booking calendar shows the current appointment options.
If you feel unwell or have a new unexplained symptom
Please contact Nick before the appointment. Massage may need to be postponed, adapted or declined, and appropriate medical assessment may be recommended. This website cannot determine whether massage is suitable for an individual health condition.
