Your first appointment allows time to understand your health, current concern, movement and treatment goals before massage begins.
Nick discusses your relevant medical and activity history, then may use specific movement tests to understand the main area and related regions. He explains the proposed approach and agrees pressure, positioning and areas of focus with you.
The initial consultation is allowed for outside the 60-minute treatment time.

Active recovery
Targeted treatment for active people, performers and anyone managing muscular tension from repetitive movement.
Sports massage can focus on the areas most affected by training, performance, physical work or day-to-day activity. Treatment may include broader massage, more focused pressure, soft-tissue release, movement and stretching where appropriate.
You do not need to play sport. Office work, driving, caring responsibilities and prolonged sitting can also contribute to muscular tension and stiffness.

Slower & more focused
A firmer approach for tight, tired or overworked muscles.
Deep-tissue massage uses slower, more focused pressure to work with persistent areas of muscular tension. The pressure is agreed with you and checked throughout the appointment.
Focused treatment does not need to be excessively painful. You can ask Nick to reduce the pressure, change position, avoid an area or stop at any time.
Book deep-tissue massageAssessment-led care
A personalised appointment shaped around the area that is bothering you and how the surrounding body is moving.
Nick may combine sports or deep-tissue massage with soft-tissue release, muscle-energy techniques, positional release, movement testing and simple home-care advice. The exact approach depends on your presentation, treatment goals and preferences.
New, severe or unexplained symptoms may need medical or another appropriate clinical assessment before massage.
Book remedial massageOptional technique
A focused technique that may be considered within a suitable treatment plan.
Nick is trained in dry needling and medical acupuncture. Needling is not automatically included and is never carried out without a discussion of suitability, expected sensations, alternatives and informed consent.
Tell Nick before the appointment if you are interested in needling or have questions about whether it may be appropriate.
